Motivation’s what you need - but in a BAD way

Filed under: Anna, Being reasonable, Diet, Inspiration — anna @ 1:38 pm

As the late Roy Castle would have said.

I’ll write a proper post later, hopefully. But in the meantime…
I just found this gallery of the worst foods you can order in American chain restaurants, and found it oddly motivational, in an anti-appetiser, snuff-movie-of-food kind of way, and quite apart from the alarming calorie and fat counts of these foods, if you can LOOK at those pictures and then fancy eating anything but a nice crisp salad, you are of stronger constitution than me. Seriously, I’ve only flipped through the slideshow and am suddenly desperate to go to the gym to repent for it. Which Can’t be bad.

*shudders*

  1. Gross. No wonder so many of my fellow Americans are on their way (if they aren’t already) to looking like Jaba the Hut’s fat twin. I’m off to the gym. Cheers for the motivation kick.

  2. General Tao chicken was one of my favourite take-out orders until I figured out one small portion was almost 1800 calories. Yikes.

  4. jd - I have tried that! I have! I was very drunk and just remember the brief sensation of having the entire inside of my mouth covered in a centimetre thick coating of lard. And then I was really, REALLY sick. For quite a few hours.

  5. Much as I loved that slideshow in an I’m-going-to-vomit-now way, what really made me shriek with delight was the one about three lines below with the man and his ear hair.

The internet is made for such glory.

  6. That reminds me of the time I went into TGI Friday’s on 5th Avenue (this was a couple of years ago now) and ordered loaded potato skins as a starter. You know how many they gave me? TEN. A plate of TEN Loaded Potato Skins. That is like FIVE POTATOES.

  7. It is revolting, isn’t it!

The mere idea just begs the question ‘why?’. It sounds disgusting, and yet the first time you see a shop selling them, the curiosity kicks in and you start thinking something along the lines of ‘well, I’m here.. might as well…might not get the chance again’, particularly if you’ve had a few. Never ever again….

But that gallery was pretty awful. The only thing I would even have considered touching was the T-bone. But thank you… I cheered myself up by going to the linked slideshow of ‘hot’ redheaded women :-)

  8. I hate that slideshow (and I’d seen that list before when Elastic Waist highlighted it). Outback cheese fries are my favorite food on the *planet*, and that is not going to change. ::sigh::
